COVID Updates 2021 - 2022

Date: Wednesday, 17 November 2021

COVID infection rates in Germany and in Bonn continue to rise and are at their highest level since the pandemic started. In order to keep BIS open, to avoid quarantines and to keep everyone safe, we have adjusted our hygiene measures.

If the infection rate in Bonn is over 100 per 100,000 inhabitants for three consecutive days (which is now the case), the following measures take effect:

  • Groups of parents/external adults of over 20 are not allowed on to campus.
  • Those who do enter campus have to either be fully vaccinated or have recovered.
  • Masks must be worn at all times when inside the buildings.
  • Since students are testing regularly, athletic games and other activities with other schools may take place as long as all the participants test on the morning of the games. Parents will not be allowed to watch indoor games.
  • The feasibility of class trips will be evaluated on an individual basis and depend upon whether we can control contact or not. Overnight trips outside of Germany will not be made.

The general advice is to reduce contact as much as possible. This means that, at the moment, we cannot hold our winter concerts with a live audience. We are looking into the possibility of recording and/or live streaming them.
