Recommended Reading Lists

In the library we love to display and highlight exceptional books in our collection. The lists provided here are a small sampling of the outstanding resources we have available.

Don’t know what to read next? Remember that your friends, teachers, parents, and librarians are excellent sources of book recommendations. Just ask!

 Summer Reading Recommendations

We encourage all members of our community to read for pleasure over the holidays. In order to create a lifelong love of reading, it's vital that we all associate reading with relaxation, fun, and choice! Remember, BIS has no prescribed Summer Reading texts.

Struggling with what to read next? The following lists are compiled with input from teachers, students, and librarians at our school, and feature favorite titles across multiple grades. Maybe something will appeal to you!

Outstanding Books for the College Bound and Lifelong Learners

The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) is a group of public and secondary school librarians. Together they created these book lists based on topic, diversity, excellence, and readability. These books have been selected for secondary school students, though many adults will be fascinated as well. These lists are curated to “offer new ideas and lenses, to open up new areas to explore and learn.”

Most of the recommended titles are available in the BIS Library Media Centre; click on the images below to access the lists in our catalog.
