Book Character Dress-Up Day:
Wednesday, 31 October
All staff and students are invited to participate in our annual Book Character Dress-Up Day, Wednesday, 31 October. Simply come in costume dressed as a character from a book - real or imaginary! Just remember to bring the book that matches your costume!
Early Learning/Grade 1 Decorated Library Bags
Students in EL 3/4, EL 5, and Grade 1 with a decorated orange library book bag will receive a free gift book. Books will be distributed at the beginning of November.
You are encouraged to help your child BLING their library book bag: Sew, glue, or paint on the bag... Add ribbons, beads, or flowers… Make it a one-of-a-kind creation!
Decorate the back of the bag only. Do not cover the name & number.
Unplug & Play
Staff members and Secondary students are invited to come by the Media Centre during secondary lunch break on Mondays in October to play board games. Come relax and play without technology!
The Media Centre has a variety of board and card games available, but you can bring your own as well!
In honour of International School Library Month we're encouraging our caring students to take action in the Media Centre.
Students in grades 4 and 5 can apply to be part of the Media Centre "Minions." Applications are due by Thursday, 25 October and training will happen thereafter.
Secondary students interested in volunteering in the library should plan to come to our information sessions. Keep reading the student bulletin for more details.
- Making Videos, 5 October, 13:15

Battle of the Books
Secondary students are invited to participate in a book vote-off to help determine the top books at BIS! Voting will be announced through the Dragon's Den morning announcements.
"Read" Poster Campaign
BIS faculty and staff showcase their favourite books in this school-wide reading promotion. Have you spotted any of the posters yet? There are over 120 in the school!
