Making the most out of your possibilities

Going to university is much more than just filling out application forms and getting good grades in school; it involves a major life change for our students.

We ensure that they have the necessary academic preparation for higher education, as well as offering sessions focusing on ‘life at college’ - what is it really like to live away from home?

Our full-time University and Career Advisor assists students in:

  • researching their higher education options
  • investigating career options
  • completing the different steps within the university application process
  • directly liaising with college admissions officers worldwide.

Well-planned university application process

Students consider many factors when applying to university. Support focuses on helping students get to know themselves and what they are looking for in a university, creating a list of schools to apply to, writing meaningful, strategic essays, and managing the application process, including the many important deadlines.

Our University and Careers Advisor mentors each individual to secure their best college or career choice.

If you are interested to learn more about our University and Careers Programme or access university application resources, please contact our Programme Advisor, Sara Miletic.

BIS students receive great guidance in this process throughout our Middle Years Programme. This guidance intensifies as they approach and enter the Diploma Years. During this critical time, our Universities and Careers Advisor not only invests much time in individual student meetings. She also provides a wealth of resources for students and their parents, such as:

Study at German Universities

German universities and institutions of higher learning are increasingly popular with our graduates. The International Baccalaureate Organization has published the requirements for our Diploma Years students to successfully secure a place at a higher education institution in Germany.

The IB Diploma Programme at BIS offers all the necessary requirements to satisfy these entry into these institutions. The definitive official German recognition requirements are outlined on the KMK (Kultusministerium) website. The latest KMK document with current requirements and an English summary, which is the unofficial translation of this agreement, is below.

Some examples of the suite of tests offered include: Universities of Oxford and Cambridge admissions tests for a range of courses; the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) for medical related courses; Mathematical Admissions Test (MAT); Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA); STEP Mathematics etc.

BIS is a registered center for students to sit their Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for those aiming to pursue further education in the USA. Please contact our University Advisor Sara Miletic for more details.
