Here for you

Thank you for your interest in joining our school community and starting your family's journey with us. Whether you currently live in the Cologne-Bonn region, or plan to relocate to our area, the BIS Admissions Team is here to help you make the right choice for your child and family.

We continue to adapt our events, campus visits and informational meetings for prospective families to the realities of the COVID pandemic.

When possible, we are delighted to host you on our beautiful campus and introduce you to our educators and students. Should this not be possible, you can still meet with our school leadership, take a walk around the campus or dip into a presentation on a specific educational theme -- all online.

Please contact our Admissions Office for information regarding the most up-to-date requirements (tests, vaccinations, etc.) for on-campus visits.

Talk to a BIS parent

Would you like to connect with a BIS parent who speaks your language? Or has a child the same age as yours? Or maybe you would like to hear directly from another  parent about their school experience? By all means!

Send a note our Admissions Team so that we can put you in contact with one of our BIS parents.

10 years later, Silje and her family still remark that a school community with such a level of compassion and focus on the children is hard to find, and that they are glad to have become part of it.

Silje expresses her gratitude by giving back to the community as the Chair of our Board of Trustees. Her Board work today is focused on to making the school the best place it can possibly be for the students today and in 5 or 10 years from now.

"We took our daughter for a trial-day when she was 5. We had a very nervous and shy girl at our side. When we arrived, she was swooped up by the most  enthusiastic Early Learning teacher you can imagine, along with two students - and was not seen again until we received a beaming, happy, and confident little girl when the day was over. It was a remarkable experience she remembers to this day."

Born in India, Avani has mostly grown up in Germany, with the exception of a few years living in Uganda. She joined BIS in Grade 1.

After school, she attends weekly Math Club and enjoys playing both the piano and basketball.

"On my first day of school I felt nervous and everyone had to show me around. Today I'm confident and I'm the person showing other people around."

Wendy's dedication to helping individual students find their strengths extends beyond the classroom. She leads our Odyssey of the Mind Club, an after school activity. This club focuses on creative problem-solving program where team members solve a predefined long-term problem and present their solution to the problem at a competition.

When not at BIS, Wendy can be found with out walking with her beloved dog.

"Although educational research is continuously changing for best practices, the most important thing is to get to know our students, develop a relationship with them, make them feel appreciated and part of the community. Students are more likely to learn when they feel safe and valued. Without this, teaching and learning will not be nearly as successful."

"BIS has been a great experience for our son, his education and development, coming from a very homogenous environment in Boulder, CO.  It has also been a great experience for us as a family with the welcoming community and the ability to experience everything life in the UN city of Bonn has to offer."

Benedicte has a son in the Diploma Programme and a daughter who recently graduated.

She quotes her children: "Both of our children love(d) their time at the school and consider themselves lucky to be able to learn in an environment that makes learning interesting and enjoyable, that challenges them to think about what they learn and that allows them to manage their own learning and to develop their confidence. They appreciate having great teachers to guide them through their years at BIS."

"BIS is a warm and welcoming international school community, which provides an outstanding education on a great campus. Its inspiring teachers, innovative teaching methods and supportive and respectful culture help kids develop and become the best version of themselves."

Habib's family chose to enroll him and his three brothers at BIS because of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes taught in all of our grade levels. His father attended an IB school himself and wants his children to benefit from this forward-thinking, conceptual approach to learning.

Habib's mother is an accomplished athlete. We are lucky to have her train our marathon team.
