Those people who develop the ability to continuously acquire new and better forms of knowledge that they can apply to their work and to their lives will be the movers and shakers in our society for the indefinite future.
We at BIS believe in continuous improvement of the quality of our teaching staff and thus invest significant resources into teacher professional development (PD). All our teachers regularly attend the IB and non IB professional development workshops that are on offer across the world. Furthermore, we encourage our staff to pursue their higher learning goals and our PD funding supports this. The generous PD budget has helped the committee to approve more than 95% of the applications last year. The PD committee comprises six staff members, including the principals. The PD committee approves individual applications based on clearly set guidelines.
In addition to supporting the staff’s external professional development, BIS also offers many in-house professional development opportunities. These are offered by our qualified staff members or by external sources. The workshops range from curriculum developments to information technology, cognitive coaching etc. The school has two days dedicated to in-house professional development each academic year.
