Bonn International School is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board is elected by the BIS Association, composed of all parents and staff members at the school. The Board is responsible for strategic decision-making at the school and determines the long-term course and policies of BIS.

The Board of Trustees for the 2011-2012 school year is made up of the following members: 

• Mr. Martin Weller - Board Chair 
• Mr. Michael Gray - Vice Chair, Chair of Policy and Programme Committee
• Mr. Theo Paeffgen - Treasurer, Chair of Finance and Personnel Committee
• Mr. Eric Voss - Board Secretary, Chair of Site and Security Committee
• Dr. Anuradha Koraktar - Chair of Trustees Committee
• Ms. Lindsay Bridges - Chair of Development Committee
• Ms. Kim Meyer
• Mr. Stephen Middlebrook - School Director (non-voting member)
• Ms. Zoe Grigoriadou - Teacher Representative (non-voting member)
• Ms. Mary Ann Mann - Parent Volunteer Board Chair

The Board of Trustees divides its work across 5 standing committees which meet to research and discuss issues to be brought to the Board for decision or information:

• Finance and Personnel
• Trustees
• Site and Security
• Development
• Policy and Programmes 

Although the work of each committee is separate and distinct, the implications of the work is intertwined, supporting the activities and goals outlined in the Strategic Plan.

The Board Policy Manual, a copy of which can be found in the Media Center and on the parent section of the website, outlines the responsibilities and procedures of the Board in full detail.

In addition to the expertise offered by the Board Members, BIS has an Advisory Council, comprised of prominent people from the business and political arena in and around Bonn. The Advisory Council members support the future development of the school by acting as ambassadors and advisors on behalf of the school.
