Bonn International School is a community of lifelong learners. We celebrate the skills needed to continuously learn and see these skills as absolutely necessary to prepare for the future. Through an engaging, challenging and rigorous curriculum based on Programmes of Inquiry, our students become inquirers with a passion for learning that accompanies them their whole life.
Our school uses the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) as a framework for an analytical, international education. Our approaches to teaching reflect best practice from current research on how children learn. Throughout the PYP, students develop conceptual understanding, knowledge, skills and attitudes, which will help them to take action as a result of their learning.
International mindedness, inspiration and excellence in teaching and learning are at the heart of our school.
The Exhibition is a culminating experience for the PYP and a rite of passage into Grade 6 and the Middle Years Programme. In Grade 5, students participate in a project which synthesizes the essential elements of the PYP and their acculumated learning. Through independent and collaborative inquiry, Grade 5 students research and present their understandings of a global issue that is of personal interest and is based on a common central idea.
This is an opportunity for students to engage in authentic independent inquiry and to showcase the knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and actions that they have developed throughout their time in the PYP. The final product of this inquiry is presented to the whole school community as The Exhibition.
