Extracurricular Programme

In addition to our well-balanced curriculum, we offer our students a comprehensive Extracurricular Programme to broaden their interests and talents. We believe extracurricular pursuits complement the classroom experience, give students new areas to achieve in, develop their interests, and offers children opportunities to mix with others outside the classroom.

Our programme spans everything from the arts to sports, languages and political debating clubs. Students participate in a variety of activities during their breaks in the school day, as well as before and after school.

Our EC Programme divides into Extracurricular Sports, Extracurricular Activities and the Bonn International School Sport Verein.

EC Sports covers competitive sports for Grade 5–12. Students who are prepared to regularly train and attend practice may join the team even if they don’t compete for the season by first participating in the tryouts at the beginning of each season. Recreational sports (without travel) are offered by season, a programme is published together with EC Activities.

EC Activities spans a diverse range of after-school and lunchtime activities for all students. Activities are a great way for students to make new friends, learn and develop new skills and have fun. Languages, arts, music, drama, dance and non-competitive sports are among the variety of activities on offer. For example: choirs, Model United Nations, TEDxYouth, History Club, dance, private instrument lessons, garden club.

BISSV is an additional organisation that allows the extended community to participate in sporting activities and compete in local leagues.

The cost of activities varies broadly, depending on the type of activity and its provider. Activites such as choir or Garden Club incur no additional cost, whilst other activities such as private music tuition or programmes offered by outside providers encounter a specified fee. Our competitive sports teams travel to compete with other international schools. Families of students who compete with our sports teams contribute a proportion of the costs associated with this.

A day by day timetable of what we offer can be found on our Community Login portal and the BISSV pages.
